Certificate of Recognition (COR) Audits

Companies who employ 10 or more employees any time throughout the year are generally classified as a large employer and would be required to participate in the regular COR program. Although the process does vary depending on the certifying organization, you would need to have a program in place and have operated with it for a year prior to submitting it for an audit. Once the first certification audit is completed, and you’ve obtained a COR, you are only required to complete certification audits once every three years, with the other two years being classified as maintenance audits. Certification audits must typically be external audits which would be completed by a consulting auditor approved by the association you are seeking certification through. For the two maintenance years between certification, there are two options available. You can either request that a consulting auditor complete these audits as well, or anyone in the employ of the company can take a training course that would allow you to perform your own internal audit.
