Safety is everyone's responsibility

Employers have a general obligation or duty to ensure that the health and safety of every person employed by them is protected while they are working. This means providing employees the necessary information, training and supervision to perform their work safely. 

Employees have a responsibility to take all reasonable and necessary precautions to ensure their own health and safety as well as the health and safety of anyone else who may be affected by their work or activities. This means following safe work procedures, using the protective clothing, devices and and equipment provided and remaining alert to hazards at all times (and reporting them to your supervisor or employer immediately).
